Suatu pagi di alun-alun Kecamatan Cibeureum Kulon, salah satu lokasi menuju titik pendakian Gunung Tampomas (latar belakang). Tampak para siswa sekolah dasar terlihat riang bermain bola.

It was a great morning at Cibeureum Kulon (lit. West Cibeureum) square. A blue sky, beautiful Tampomas in the back, kids were playing football and see, there's a rice paddy being dried.

Kelompok seni kuda renggong Mekar Laharja disela-sela perayaan menyambut HUT Sumedang ke- 434 di alun-alun Sumedang.

Kuda renggong (lit: Renggong horse) is one of the folk art performances originally from Sumedang and founded by Aki Sipan (in 1880s). This attraction present a well-trained horse which has colorful decorative to dance and doing some special movements, such as pretend to figth or lying down while the tamer dance above him. The performance of Kuda Renggong usually held for circumcision ceremony where a circumcision’s child would dressed likes a king or warrior and then go up to horseback. Ki lengser sedang beraksi dalam sebuah upacara pernikahan adat Sunda

Orang Sunda sudah tidak asing lagi dengan sosok sepuh seperti dalam foto di atas. Yah, Ki Lengser biasa hadir dalam setiap upacara pernikahan adat Sunda. Biasanya Ki Lengser menjadi sosok yang menyambut pengantin laki-laki dan rombongannya untuk kemudian dipertemukan dengan pihak pengantin perempuan. Karakter umum dari seorang lengser ini adalah bijaksana dan humoris. Baca disini juga.

The kids were on their way back home after attending informal class of Islamic education. Besides the formal education they had in the morning,  it's very typical for the most moslem family here to ask their children attending pengajian or an informal class of Islamic education on the afternoon.

Seorang petani sedang membajak sawah dengan kerbaunya pada suatu pagi yang cerah.

Buffaloes still provide the main mechanism for plowing (Mideur in Sundanese) the rice field here by the farmers.

Membuat souvenir tradisional Sunda

Seorang pengrajin tengah serius membuat salah satu hasil karyanya, Kolotok.

The craftsman was making a Sundanese souvenir called, kolotok. Kolotok can be used as a key chain or necklace.

Actually, Snakemaster is a nature series hosted by Austin Stevens broadcast on Natural Planet and five. But, on the first day of Sumedang Book Fair 2011, there is also a live traditional 'snakemaster' show performed by Komunitas Absurd (lit. Absurd Community). Anyway, do not try this at home.
